What is inquiry-based learning?

Inquiry-based learning is the process of constructing knowledge about
the world by asking questions and seeking answers to those questions by
observing, experimenting, and drawing conclusions.
Why is it important?
There is a lot of easy-to-access information available these days. In
today's world, rote memorization is no longer key. Instead, kids need
to be able to seek out information, piece facts together, draw
conclusions, and continually reassess thier ideas as new facts emerge.
By inquiring, kids are actively involved in learning. They are
thinking, rather than simply accepting, and developing essential
analytical skills that will allow them to flourish in today's learning
environment. |
